Finding Peace in Chaos: How to Stay Grounded & Thrive Through Change

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, and even exciting changes can bring chaos, uncertainty, and stress. So how do we stay centered when everything around us feels out of control? In this post, I share my go-to tools for re-centering, grounding, and rising above the noise—so you can create an unshakable inner peace no matter what life throws your way. Get ready to step into your power, shift your mindset, and embody the calm within the storm.

“Every day brings a choice: to practice stress or to practice peace.” ~Joan Borysenko

So I’m in the process of making some HUGE professional changes - if you’ve been following along with my newsletters you’ve seen the rebrand, the new website, the addition of services – all great things but so many changes!  And with change (even the great ones!), it tends to bring in a lot of chaos, uncertainty, insecurities, and fears for me.  I crave clarity, brilliant plans, and yes, even new beginnings –  but man oh man when I get going at first – it’s wild to see what’s in store!

On a regular basis, I constantly remind myself that I’m human (and a creature of habit to boot) - and a person who needs to evolve, but also craves some of the familiarity that life has once brought me prior.  One of my deepest desires and goals is to successfully be able to look at chaos in any form, of any magnitude, square in the eye, and get myself into a place where I simply won’t let any of that nonsense or chaos affect my inner balance.  Whatever the drama, I don’t want any of it to harsh my mellow, as my Grandma would say.  My desire is for peace or bust, on the inside and all around me.❣️

Years ago a colleague passed along some great wisdom – when we recognize that life is our mirror, we begin to understand that the outer chaos merely represents our current mental state. Whoa - right?!?  So if we can quiet our inner chaos, our outer chaos will simmer.  But too often we get this process backward and that’s why it takes us soooo long sometimes to tame all of the ruckus -- we don’t take the time to first quiet our mental noise (myself included!).  This same colleague also once told me that she wanted to be the glowing yogi 🧘🏻 in a mosh pit – untouched and completely at ease.

I’ve held onto her statement for a long time -- and although this body doesn’t do yoga (at least yet, lol), I sometimes visualize myself to be floating out there in this twisted pretzeled legged position🧘🏻 in the middle of it all -- watching all the pushing and shoving going on all around me, yet I am untouched.  I remain at ease and guarded by my peaceful light and energy.  I crave that kind of serenity in my day to day, and I think I’m making good headway in embodying that.  When situations arise that aren’t going according to my plan, I really try to transcend into my inner glowing yogi in the mosh pit, and remain unfazed by the drama going on all around me.  (Thank goodness for accepting that I’m a work in progress too!)

Keeping this vibe of peace ☮️ is hard to do sometimes when we are faced with the challenges of life.  Winds of change blow through our lives daily, and unpredictable circumstances happen on a regular basis that are beyond our control.  How do we handle it all?  Personally, my brain rushes to “fix” everything -- because I always have a plan and by nature, am a true fixer!  But what I’ve learned over time -- is that it is only from cultivating an inner calm and centeredness that we really are able to transcend above any outer chaos.

So how can we do this? How can we transform any chaotic situation into one of inner and outer peace - even if we haven’t embraced that glowing yogi/mosh pit energy yet? 🧘🏻  How do we sit calmly and not get caught up in the chaos and nonsense? How do we not worry? How do we stay centered and grounded? How do we remain connected and rooted?

❣️I wanted to share with YOU my go-to list to:❣️

  • re-center my energy when I’m shifting and changing,

  • to ground and anchor me when I’m growing,

  • and to help me rise above when I feel like I could be sinking.

1. Visualize!

This is the first thing I do. I try to calm my mind down and I start envisioning the outcome I’d like to see happen.  (Simple LOA/MANIFESTING technique too!)   I don’t get attached to these ideas; I simply start imagining myself happy, healthy, safe, and loved -- and I begin to visualize a friendlier situation and outcome.  Then I can rest in those good vibes, as I remain supported in my center. 💓 Thoughts have power!!!

2. Train our subconscious mind to have a different default thinking than it does right now!

Wishful thinking for different circumstances isn’t enough to transcend us; we’ve got to feel it too. If we wish for things to be better or different, but underneath it all we feel that we are doomed no matter what, then nothing will change – that I know for sure! It takes us retraining our subconscious mind to have a different belief system.  I use affirmations to help me improve my mental and emotional self – I repeat those various times throughout the day until it becomes an inner truth and belief system within. 💓 Words have power!!! Try one of these:

  • ✴️ “Everything always works out.”

  • ✴️“Only what is for my highest and best good will happen.”

  • ✴️“I am always provided for and supported with great abundance.”

  • ✴️“I call in all the power of the Universe to me RIGHT NOW!”

  • ✴️“The best possible door opens for me immediately!”

3. Develop a faith that things ALWAYS turn out okay.

In order for us to move through our situation and create more peace in our lives, we have got to feel it. The best way for us to succeed at moving above the preverbal mosh pit is to have faith.  To have faith, we must believe with conviction and passion that everything will be okay, even if we can’t currently see exactly how.  When we possess faith, that inner knowing is a feeling that we have. We know!!!  And we cannot evolve fully into “the know” until we have un-rockable faith. 💓 Feelings have power!!!

4. Keep your eyes and heart focused on how you can add value to the world each day.

Start a journey to discover your life purpose. I know, I know, it sounds easier said than done – but it truly is our own unique mission in life, the reason we are each here – our purpose.  And I do believe that it changes and evolves, just as we do – but it is our individual gift we were born to share with others.  It is what we are here to serve and dazzle the world with.  It is in our DNA and a part of us, and it is scripted on our souls!  In moments of mayhem, cling to your purpose in life, stick with what is true to YOU!  No matter what is going on in our lives right now, our only guarantee is our life purpose. It will never leave you because it is a part of you. You need your purpose, and your purpose needs you.   So, in my moments of panic and confusion -- instead of pumping my brain for answers, I’m shifting my process for peace to focus on how I can add value to the world (even when that world may be my little family of 4).  And...if you are wondering what your own personal life mission is, follow your instincts and interests --- they will lead you there.  When I know I have contributed value to the world each day, I feel centered, grounded, and at ease. 💓 Action is power!!!

Remember, the outer world is a mirror of our inner world. If we can tame the chaos inside, the dramas in our outer worlds will subside.  And when events occur that are beyond our control, we can use these four tools to remain rooted in our center, and at peace.   Each of us has the potential to become one with the yogi 🧘🏻 floating in the mosh pit, glowing and untouched - I promise!
